Moo (cards)

Today my Moo mini cards arrived, with thanks to Karen Lopez (Twitter|Blog) for alerting her twitter followers of Moo’s recent promotional sale.  I first learned about these from Brent Ozar and Tim Ford not long after that.  I liked Tim’s idea of separating his interests with plus signs.  You can see the size of these mini cards relative to a normal-sized business card below.

Designing these on Moo’s website was fun, the cards arrived before their expected delivery date, and I’m quite pleased with their quality.

I went with a less formal style because my primary motivation for getting the mini cards was related to blogging, social networking, community, etc.  While attending South Florida’s SQL Saturday 40 last month, there were a few times that I wanted to hand someone a card but somehow felt that a typical business card might be too formal.  So I’m hoping these cards will be something professional but not too stodgy.

I love these cards. They really separate you from the crowd. I bought my first Moo cards a couple of years ago, but people still ooo and aah when I hand ’em one at conferences. Very cool.

    • I’ve wanted an excuse to get some of these since I read your blog post on them! To this day I’ve probably received just 2 or 3 of these mini cards at events, so if nothing else they’ll stand out. I’m looking forward the reactions they’ll get and hope to hear some feedback on what additional information they could use, what could be a better use of space, etc.

Those turned out really nice. I’ve got some designs for my own brewing in my head, now just to get them out and ordered before the Summit!

    • Thanks Matt, I placed my order on Saturday August 21st, so it took about a week to get them (and I used the cheapest shipping option). You’ve got plenty of time before the PASS Summit. I’m going to at least one SQL Saturday before then, so I’m hoping to get some feedback and reaction on these (I placed a minimum sized order) before ordering more for the Summit.

  3. Very nice! They look great! 🙂 I’ll have to add that to my list of things to do.
